New Delhi, March 18, 2025: Archbishop Anil Couto of Delhi called on young Catholics to see the face of Jesus in everyone as he addressed 35 Communio Volunteers at a missionary training programme in Don Bosco Provincial House, Okhla, New Delhi.
“Communio volunteers must practice the fundamental principle of Communio, which compels us to unite with everyone. We are called to serve Jesus, and we should recognize His presence in every person we meet,” the archbishop said.
During his homily, he posed three reflective questions to the volunteers: “Where am I? What am I doing here? What should I do next?” He urged them to look inward and strengthen their faith, emphasizing that their mission was not just about attending a programme but about living their faith in action.
Drawing a parallel with Air Force pilots who must always be aware of their position and next move, Archbishop Anil stressed the need for continuous self-assessment in one’s spiritual journey. “It is easy to fall into routine, but the real question is: Are we truly walking with Christ?” he asked.
Focusing on the Lenten season, he reminded the gathering that renewal is not about external observances but about a transformation of heart. He spoke about baptism, explaining that while many religions have ritual cleansing, Christian baptism is a lifelong commitment to discipleship.
“The Church needs you,” he told the young volunteers. “You have the energy, passion, and openness to God’s grace. If young people call for renewal, the world will listen.”
As the Holy Mass concluded, a renewed sense of purpose was evident among the volunteers. Archbishop Anil blessed each participant, encouraging them to carry their faith forward with conviction.
The missionary training, organized by Communio, brought together young people from across India, equipping them to serve with zeal and dedication.
