Bengaluru, CCBI Secretariat, 5 September 2025: The Communio family came together virtually to celebrate the feast day of St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Patron Saint of Communio. This joyous occasion was the fruit of a ten-day journey of reflection on her life and mission, started from the 115th birthday of Mother Teresa on August 26, 2025, where volunteers meditated on her quotes and practiced daily activities of love. The reflections were prepared by Sr. Margarita Dias SCB, while posters were creatively designed by Apeksha Xess on different quotes of Mother Teresa, a second batch volunteer.
“Love in action is the true celebration of St. Mother Teresa’s feast.” This spirit guided the reflections and activities, reminding volunteers that true devotion is lived out in daily service.
On the feast day, the celebration began with a Holy Eucharistic Celebration at Shishu Bhavan, Bangalore, with the Missionaries of Charity, participated by Fr. Vignan Das and Sr. Margarita, Associate Directors. The virtual gathering then continued with a meditative prayer led by Maria Purthi, second batch coordinator, followed by a warm welcome from Jessica, first batch coordinator.
“Serving with joy is the greatest tribute to our Patron Saint.” This message echoed through the sharing of Adv. Anthony Judy, Convenor of Communio Volunteers, who highlighted prayer, solidarity, and mission as the pillars of Communio’s vision. The event was coordinated and anchored by Sr. Margarita Dias SCB and Fr. Vignan Das.
A special highlight was the address by Fr. Stephen Alathara, Deputy Secretary General of the CCBI, who reminded volunteers that the first motive of Christian service is to serve and work for Jesus, sharing anecdotes from Mother Teresa’s life. “Communio Volunteers: Walking in the footsteps of St. Mother Teresa” became the resounding call of his reflection.
The celebration was enriched with an action song “Tu Hi Tu”. Animated by Supriya Communio Volunteer , Bible–CCBI–Communio trivia, testimonies from Jessica, Simran, and Smrithi, as well as joyful activities like the lemon-and-spoon game. “Every act of love is a reflection of God’s presence among us” was seen vividly in the joyful service and participation of every volunteer.
The program ended with a vote of thanks by Apurva, third batch coordinator.
The event was full of joy, enthusiasm, exuberance, and gratitude. The Communio family had a meaningful celebration, renewing their commitment to walk in the footsteps of their Patron Saint. As the program concluded with a prayer by Fr Vignan Das and Final blessings by Fr Stephen Alathar, one thought remained in every heart: “Celebrating Mother Teresa means living her mission every day.”
