          • By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another (Jn 13:35). The identity of Christian discipleship unfolds in love.

Strengthen Faith, Serve Others: Apostolic Nuncio Encourages Communio Volunteers

New Delhi, 20 Mar 2025: A group of 50 enthusiastic Communio volunteers had the unique privilege of visiting the Apostolic Nunciature in New Delhi, often referred to as the Vatican Embassy or the Embassy of the Holy See on March 20, 2025. This rare opportunity offered the young leaders a firsthand experience of the Church’s diplomatic mission in India.

During his visit, Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, the Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal, exhorted the volunteers to “deepen their faith and translate it into actionable service.”

Upon arrival, the volunteers were warmly welcomed by Msgr. Juan Pablo Cerrillos Hernández, the First Counsellor at the Nunciature. The volunteers also had an opportunity to spend time in prayer with His Excellency Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, the Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal who led them in a moment of prayer, setting a tone of reflection and unity.

Following the prayer, a vibrant interaction ensued between His Excellency and the young volunteers. The participants posed insightful questions, to which His Excellency responded with warmth and wisdom. He emphasized the importance of deepening one’s faith and translating that faith into actionable service. He encouraged the volunteers to be steadfast in their mission, reminding them that genuine faith is demonstrated through acts of love and compassion.

Accompanying the volunteers were: Fr. Chetan Machado, Executive Secretary of the CCBI Youth Commission. Fr. Dominic Pinto, Associate Executive Secretary of the CCBI Youth Commission. Fr. Vignan Das, Associate Director of Communio. Sr. Margherita, Animator for Communio Volunteers.

This visit to the Apostolic Nunciature was an enriching experience that deepened the volunteers’ understanding of the Church’s global mission and its diplomatic engagements. Such interactions inspire and equip young leaders to carry forward the mission of Communio with renewed vigour and faith.
