Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, August 7, 2024: Fr. Vignan Das, Associate Director of Communio, explained the concept of Communio in relation to Canon Law, emphasizing that it reflects a deep Trinitarian communion where members support and uplift one another in prayer and mission. He was speaking at the Telugu Regional Canonists meeting held at Heralds of Good News Generalate in Eluru on August 6, 2024.
Fr. Das highlighted that Communio, as articulated by the Second Vatican Council, signifies a collective unity of the faithful. “In the light of the Second Vatican Council, ‘Communio’ means ‘people’. He asserted that Canon Law plays a crucial role in this dynamic, as it not only governs the Church’s legal framework but also enhances and embodies the communal bonds within the Church.
The meeting underscored the essential role of Canon Law in reinforcing the sense of community and solidarity among Church members. Organized by the TCBC Commission for Canon Law, this event brought together nearly 40 Canonists from 14 dioceses across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
